Muck & Mire
Muck & Mire is a guided emotional release experience.
Transform rage and grief into power.
Release in an integrated, safe way.
Receive support in community.
Muck & Mire is a somatic practice that combines movement with trauma-informed Somatic Experiencing and Daoist Tantric principles. The schedule for the workshop is half discussion and modeling and half ritual space in which all participants practice together with music cuing the movements. There is a reflection circle and guidance for integration after.
What It’s All About
Facilitator
Celia Neustadt
Celia is a Somatic Healing and Family Constellation Practitioner. Her mission is to help others connect with their inner truth so they can live purposeful, pleasurable lives. She weaves together psycho-somatic practices with ancient wisdom. As a healer of this time, she sees the ways modernity has disconnected us from ourselves, one another and Mother Earth. After over a decade of study and practice, she teaches others how to heal this core trauma and reconnect with themselves through her Five-Body Focus: Erotic, Emotional, Primal, Ancestral and Spiritual.
Celia is trained in the following modalities: Family Constellations, Somatic Experiencing, Parts-Work, Shamanic Herbalism, Yoga, and Tantra. She settled in the Hudson Valley with her partner and dog Lady after traveling the world in pursuit of her own inner truth. Celia fills up her cup by talking with plants, running trails, perusing the local farmers markets, tinkering with her alembic and dancing under the stars.
She has been facilitating Muck & Mire for groups and individuals for five years.
“If ecstatic dance had a baby with somatic processing/ release work, the baby would be Muck & Mire.”
ART INSPIRED BY MUCK & MIRE
I let the rope down.
I shine bright so you can find your way.
I leave food so you have energy.
But you have to climb
You have to walk through the dark.
You have to eat.
I can't do those things for you.
Cause if I do.
What is the fucking point of doing those first few things?
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
“Art saved my life and totally changed my trajectory. I create art from what I am struggling with which allows me to process my emotions in an effective and healthy way.”

FAQs
-
Feeling awkward and uncomfortable is a part of the experience. Learning to embody our emotions can be surprising, intense and difficult. All of your emotions are welcome. To make the space more accessible, the lights will be low.
-
No, you can just come and work it through. The body is the guide so we create space for the body to move through whatever it needs.
-
I offer discounted rates to those disproportionately harmed by racism, capitalism and colonialism. This policy aligns with my value of reciprocity, to return some of what has been taken through extraction by myself, my family, and my somatic lineages. I wish to make my work specifically accessible to those with ancestry from which I have benefited most: those of Costa Rican, East Asian, Indigenous East Asian, South Asian, Yoruba, Romani, Black Northern American and African Northern American, Chicano and Latinx descent.
-
You must be 18 years or older to attend Muck & Mire. Otherwise, all are welcome. The only consideration when attending is for those who are experiencing extreme dysregulation. Muck & Mire can be further destabilizing. If you're unsure about this, you can take the Nervous System Regulation Quiz and find our your Regulation Score.

Muck & Mire begins at 8 pm so that we have the support of night time. Darkness helps us embrace our own dark emotions as well as providing some safety from being fully seen.
Reflections
-I slept soundly that night and my dreams were safe and positive.
-Simple and effective - come! ~Ewelina
-Thank you for your work and creating the opportunity to practice, move through and process in community.
-For someone, where letting out grief and rage has been really difficult for, this was a release I have needed most of my life. I feel a clarity in my life that is comforting, scary and exciting. I have always been a people pleaser and was always careful to make sure other people's feelings and emotions where cared for before my own. Showing anger or rage around other people growing up was forbidden. I can probably count on one hand the amount of time I showed anger or rage out in public in my forty years on this planet. So this event, this experience felt amazing. Thank you so much and I can't wait until the next one. ~Benny
-I’ve always been advised to “feel your feelings,” but no one ever showed me how. Celia’s Muck and Mire session gave me a framework for accessing and moving through my emotions. The personal growth I’ve had in just a week after this session is more than what I experienced in years prior! It’s so much more than I could have expected! ~Kelly
-I see that this practice is a safe and healthy way to summon these emotions. It's clear that having an outlet like this would keep me from seeking the emotional release elsewhere and would definitely improve my life. So, THANK YOU!!!!!!! I didn't know what to expect, and this was a really important realization and a big step in my healing and growth process.
-If ecstatic dance had a baby with somatic processing/release work, the baby would be Muck & Mire. It is a safe place to embody and feel through anger and grief so they can be integrated and not seep out of me at inopportune times.
-Thank you so much for this space! I’m going through a tough time and being able to express these heavy emotions was super healing. I never allow them to take space in my body in an intentional way, so I really appreciate all the tools, discussions and your empowering guidance <3
-A safe space to release rage and then wounds and then feel light enough to fly. Highly recommend. Celia is a strong, passionate professional who holds a space with love and wisdom. ~Chris
